Work Eyecare Voucher

Can I use my work eyecare voucher at Premier Vision?

If your employer has given you a voucher to cover a VDU eye examination then you can probably use it at Premier Vision to have a free routine VDU eye examination.

What do I need to do next?

Use the BOOK ONLINE option above and select the EYECARE VOUCHER option. If you have a code from EyeMed then you can present this on the day of your eye test. If you have an Edenred voucher then you will need to bring this along to your appointment. If you have a SEE voucher you will need to print off the forms that your employer has given you and bring them along. If you do not have access to a printer then please email your forms to hello@premiervision.co.uk in advance or your appointment so that we can print them ready for your appointment.

What does a routine VDU eye examination involve?

Our opticians will start by discussing your work environment. They will then check the basic health of your eyes, test your vision and determine whether you need glasses. Specifically they will determine whether glasses are advisable for occupational VDU use. The optician will make lens recommendations as well as the best coatings to get the most out of your vision.

Additionally if your scheme or employer has provided paperwork to fill in as part of your eyecare scheme then the optician will fill in these details and pass them back to your employer.

Do I also get free glasses?

Under the HSE display screen equipment regulations your employer is only obliged to provide glasses if they are a specific prescription for your VDU. They say this about VDU glasses in the guidance.

You only need to provide glasses for the DSE work. If users’ normal glasses are suitable for DSE work, you don’t need to pay for them. You don’t have to pay for expensive frames or lenses.

So in a nutshell you will only get glasses provided by your employer if you don't already wear glasses or require glasses for similar tasks. You can read the full guidance at https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg36.PDF

Will I get a prescription at the end of the eye exam?

Yes, we can email you a copy of your prescription to your registered email address.

Will there be any additional charges on the day?

Your eyecare voucher covers a routine VDU eye exam. Should extra examinations be recommended by the optician you will be given the opportunity to pay for additional tests. Your voucher will not cover any products or services not related to your routine VDU eye exam. Your voucher will not cover the filling of forms or paperwork not related to your routine VDU eye exam.
